Panchayat Season 3 Review: Something’s Not Right This Time

While some tracks had that Panchayat and TVF touch, some tracks felt like the writer has lost sight of the shore. Panchayat 3 isn’t bad. It’s still the same but it’s different as well and I don’t have a good feeling about it.

Started super slow but so did season 1. As the show progressed, for a long time, it did not go anywhere – as if the aeroplane wanted to land but could not find space to do so which is why it aimlessly wandered in the sky.

We see this season open with Sachiv Ji’s transfer and how his tribe in Phulera does everything they can to bring him back – and also, make sure that the new Sachiv doesn’t join. Things work out for them as Vidhayak is sent to jail for killing the neighbour’s dog and Sachiv Ji is brought back to Phulera.

What’s changed this time is that the season gets political. Vidhayak has become one of the important players. Is this a good twist? I am still not sure. When Politics comes into picture, that too, to an extent where the key characters’ lives are at risk – you wonder what ‘morally correct’ stand should the writer take now or should he just be realistic and kill the most loved characters of the show? But in that case, will Panchayat continue to bring more seasons? Even if they do, will you and I watch the show further? It has lost the lustre, this season, anyway.

When season 2 ended, I was hoping that the Pradhan will take a backseat and we will see more women power in the next instalment. To my disappointment, the lady official who was pissed that Manju Devi isn’t leading seems to have changed sides now. While she still considers and speaks to Manju Devi when clashes arise, she doesn’t seem much bothered about who’s taking charge when it comes to working on the ground.

The only track that felt like Panchayat and TVF was Prahlad Pandey’s story. He is a fabulous actor, no second thoughts on that. I wouldn’t be wrong if I say, ‘he came and he conquered.’ Another good part was the return of the Damaad. Remember, the wedding and the fight for the chair?  Yes, the same Damaad is back!

Other than that, Panchayat 3 was a bit ‘confused and cold.’
