Kho Gaye Hum Kahan Review: Tried Hard To Make An Impact But Couldn’t!

If you want to make movies that change people’s perspectives along with their way of living or make them think – really hard about their lives, you have no other option but to pick your writers and cast carefully.

Such movies need mature writing and power-packed performances. Kho Gaye Hum Kahan neither delivered good performances nor had a gripping script. The thought behind the movie was good though. Most writers ruin the story when it comes to putting it down on the paper. This is what has happened with Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.

It might have started with a thought – let’s make a film that speaks about today’s generation and their issues – social media, influencers, loneliness, emptiness, hollow relationships, confusion, emotional imbalance, and everything that the youngsters struggle with. Why just youngsters? Most of the crowd that’s hooked to the digital world is trying to figure out life and finding an escape by constantly scrolling – thinking that all of these issues will take care of themselves if we ignore them and act busy. Glued to our phones, we look for solutions online.

From the causes behind frequent acidity to will he come back to me? Solution to every problem has to be online. You have friends without faces who give you the best advice without walking in your shoes. Does that work? Who cares? You at least don’t have to speak to the person sitting next to you.

We are living totally messed up lives and we all know that. Do we have a solution for that? I am not sure about solutions but we have answers. Answers to most of our questions and we will be able to hear them only if we cut down the noise. And that is exactly what we do not want to do. Instead of cutting down the noise, we  increase the volume so that we don’t have to face reality.

This is complex. If you want to make a movie where the end result is life changing, or to expect the least, thought-provoking, you need to dive deep into these issues. Writers need to understand human behaviour and psyche. What is written now is only what all of us see on the surface.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan was the perfect recipe for a successful movie but there was no effort – from writers or the actors. They made a movie about what’s trending and tried to give a tadka of entertainment to it. Wasn’t this movie trying to give a message against this ‘trending’ stuff? But ended up doing the same? It’s complicated!
