Curry and Cyanide, as we know, is the case of Jolly Joseph that shook the nation a few years ago. We all know that Jolly killed six members of her family over the span of 14 years. But what made her do that? Was it an extra-marital affair? Was it for the property? Or was she mentally sick?
I was expecting a lot from this documentary as the facts came straight out of the horse’s mouth – the victim family. But this felt like another scripted form of entertainment. In fact, after watching the documentary, you will have more questions than you had before watching this documentary.
Jolly Joseph is said to be getting cyanide from Mathew, her husband, Roy’s cousin. He was working with a jeweller and that is how he had access to Cyanide. If I am not wrong, in the documentary, they mentioned that he supplied the poison to her only once. But towards the end of the series, it is said that a good amount of cyanide was still available at her home. In that case, where did she get it from?
If you watch the documentary, you will also be forced to question why Roy’s death was not investigated. This makes you wonder if this case truly is what it looks on the surface.
Curry and Cyanide, at one point, also hinted that Jolly and Mathew might have had an affair but after Roy’s death, Jolly ended up marrying Shaju. Before marrying him, she killed his first wife, Sili and his daughter, Alfine. If she had an affair with Mathew and that is why he was supplying Cyanide to her, how did he agree to Jolly marrying Shaju?
A documentary is supposed to answer your questions by giving away facts or putting light on actual events. Curry and Cyanide never give answers. It simply narrates a story that caught the nation’s attention for a while. You get nothing out of it!
You can simply read about it online and you are sorted.
