Ohh My Dog Review: Not Worth Your Time

I had high hopes for Ohh My Dog. When it started, I believed it would be dealing with issues like animal cruelty and trafficking. In an attempt to shed light on such animal issues, they did speak about trafficking and cruelty, but only here and there. The story revolved around one dog looking for his kidnapped owner, who we later get to know has been abducted by organ traffickers, and a kid who is looking for his dog, who has been kidnapped by animal traffickers.

Now, two stories – two types of traffickers and an attempt to find the lost ones without any support from the police. The plot had the potential to become an eye-opener and take us down the less travelled road.

If Ohh My Dog had to be a crime and suspense or thriller-style story, they should have focused on the criminal side of it rather than the ‘tech genius’ side of the kid looking for his dog and the ‘filmy hunt’ of the dog for his owner. Animal trafficking is a crime audiences do not get to see often. If the writer could have managed to keep the story strictly emotional while changing people’s perspectives towards what’s happening around them without getting into gory details, this film could have topped the charts or at least left its mark on anyone who watched the film.

Ohh My Dog also deals with organ trafficking, but it gets so filmy without truly going anywhere that it starts getting annoying after a while. If you do not know what to do with subjects like these, take your time until you find the right treatment and then jump into the project.

As a dog lover, if you are planning to watch Ohh My Dog, I would say there are better movies out there for animal lovers.
