With You For You Always: This Short Film Asks A Deeply Unsettling Question – What Should Women Do To Be Safe?

Disturbing visuals of women harassment gets circulated on social media every other day. When not it, we have news that tell us how women still aren’t safe – from molestation, from rape, from verbal harassment, from torture, from dowry deaths, and whatnot! But no, this short film doesn’t deal with all of it because a short film wouldn’t be enough to talk about what women face in their day to day life – and then speak about what women go through in their entire lifetime – from checking the gender even before she is born to death.

With You For You deals with women not being safe by only focusing on her staying out late at night – it may be for work or for studies or for partying. Whatever reason it may be, are women safe if they venture out at night? What if she leaves alone and there is a medical emergency? What if a pregnant lady suddenly feels unwell and her husband isn’t home to take her to the hospital? What if a young girl was sitting in the library studying and she did not realise the sun had set? What if a corporate couple wants to take time out for themselves after work before they go home to kids? What if a young couple who is all set to get married decide to go for dinner just so that they can spend time together and get to know each other well? Are all those women safe – even when accompanied? No, right? A recent harassment case gone viral on social media reiterates the fact that no, women, who are accompanied by men, are also not safe.

A debate shown in this short film shows how some people still blame women for the harassment they have to face. In 2026, people still believe that women shouldn’t venture out after certain hours. I do not even think it’s wise to debate with such people on women safety anymore because such a regressive mentality is the reason why women still do not feel safe – whether it’s day or night.

But honestly, I would really like to ask one question here: What’s wrong with society? Should women truly start dressing up as men so that the predators let us be? Is this where we are heading? If yes, men should hang their heads in shame and ask themselves – why can’t they just zip it up and keep it to themselves?
