Castaway Diva released two new episodes on the weekend, episode 9 and episode 10. The story did move ahead in these two episodes but again, episode 9 was disappointing. It felt like we were simply watching the characters go about their daily lives. But then there comes episode 10, the season’s only interesting episode.
We finally saw some action as Ki-ho and Woo-Hak’s real father, Bong-wan, finds their address after Ki-ho confronts him while ending up in a fight which he says will be used as evidence of domestic violence against the man. But as the story unfolds we see that the family is still as afraid of Bong-wan as they were before they managed to escape. The violence continues as he finds his family and asks them to go with him so that they can go back to living the way they were before the family was reported missing.
The story takes an ugly turn when the missing family whose identity Ki-ho’s family was using is found. The only thing going in favour of this family now is that Ki-ho’s adoptive father, Kang Sang-du, have confessed and reported their fake identity. That doesn’t mean the struggle has ended. It has just begun as Yoon Ran-joo asks Mok-ha to break every tie with Ki-ho’s family if she wants her to produce her album. She then confesses to Ki-ho that all she wants in her life is to become a singing sensation and hence is choosing to move away from the family as their fake identity crisis will negatively impact her career and reputation in the future.
That is the main story that was covered in these two episodes but what made the last episode good to watch was the focus on Ki-ho and Mok-ha’s unsaid bond. While the makers have still not disclosed Mo-ha’s real intention behind moving away from the family, we see Ki-ho unconditional love for her when we are told that the moment he found her on the island, he has arranged a home for her. Even before she betrays the family, he sets up her house as he thinks she shouldn’t be living with them anymore, for her safety.
From the glimpses of precap, I am assuming that Ki-ho and Mok-ha eventually end up together as we see them happily hugging each other. But you never know…. Let’s wait and watch!
The finale episodes of Castaway Diva, episodes 11 and 12 will release on 02nd and 03rd December, respectively. I hope they don’t disappoint us, because to an extent, they already have but sometimes, a movie or show’s destiny depends on how it ends, not how it began.
